Brama Żagańska

Brama Miejska w Szprotawie, znana także jako Brama Żagańska, jest jednym z dwóch historycznych wejść do miasta, obok Bramy Głogowskiej. Znajduje się w południowej części dawnych murów obronnych, na zakończeniu ulicy Muzealnej, znanej wcześniej jako Neustrasse.

Pierwsze wzmianki o Bramie Miejskiej pochodzą z 1330 roku, a w XIV wieku była nazywana "bramą kamienną" ze względu na materiał budowlany. Pod koniec XIX wieku dodano ozdobne blanki od strony południowej, umieszczono w ścianie kamienne kule bombardujące z XV wieku i ozdobiono herbem szprotawskim.

Po II wojnie światowej budynek pełnił funkcję filii archiwum państwowego, a od 2004 roku jest siedzibą Muzeum Ziemi Szprotawskiej.

Brama Miejska w Szprotawie jest obiektem badań w ramach programu badawczego "Zamek Szprotawski".
