Brama Królewska - co robić w wolnym czasie

Brama Królewska

      Brama Królewska w Szczecinie to jeden z ważniejszych zabytków miasta, usytuowany na pl. Hołdu Pruskiego, w pobliżu ulic Jana Matejki i pl. Żołnierza Polskiego. Została zbudowana w latach 1725–1728 z okazji zajęcia Szczecina przez Prusy, według projektu holenderskiego architekta Gerharda Corneliusa van Wallrawe.

     Początkowo nosiła nazwę Anklamer Tor, a po 1806 roku zmieniła ją na Brama Królewska. W okresie powojennym była znana także jako Brama Nakielska lub Hołdu Pruskiego. Brama wchodziła w skład pruskich fortyfikacji miasta i była ozdobiona licznymi rzeźbami, w tym postaciami Marsa i Herkulesa. W czasie II wojny światowej zdemontowano jej zdobienia, które po wojnie zostały przywrócone.

     W 1994 roku brama została poddana renowacji. Obecnie jest wpisana do rejestru zabytków i pełni funkcję kulturalną, mieszcząc m.in. pijalnię czekolady Wedel.
